That’s what I learned this morning at a beautiful breakfast overlooking Central Park. There are people in my industry (the Wedding Industry that is…) that are giving back to people in need and they belong to an organization called Wish Upon a Wedding. This wonderful group of people provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness and serious life altering circumstances, regardless of their sexual orientation. Since the organizations inception in 2010, they have granted over 60 wishes nation wide. The NYC chapter alone has over 800 Wish Grantors (various vendors in the wedding related industry) that are willing to help make these amazing events happen.

Wish Upon a Wedding (NYC chapter) is granting their first “Wish” this Friday. The NYC Chapter is granting this wonderful couple, Sarah and Colin, in Portsmouth, NH vow renewals at the beautiful Wentworth by the Sea in New Castle, NH. Sarah has been battling breast cancer and just recently found out the cancer has spread to other parts of her body. This organization has made it possible for this loving couple to renew their vows in front of their children, family and friends.

This mornings breakfast was sponsored by the Le Parker Meridian Hotel in the Penthouse. (You have already seen the picture with the beautiful view!) Lindsay Landman, president of the NYC chapter, spoke eloquently about the importance of what they provide for those who are ailing and would like to participate in such an event. Gabriella Risatti, vice president of the NYC Chapter, hosted a question and answer session with designer extraordinaire, Nicole Miller. Ms. Miller has been donating dresses and her services to brides that are participating in this program and helping them to look beautiful on their special day.

SO how can you help? Become a wish grantor, send them some $$$, tell your family and friends about this special and unique organization, inform local hospitals and doctors that this organization exists for their patients and of course we can all spread it around through a little thing called Social Media.

Thank you Wish Upon a Wedding for doing what you do. In the words of your founder and executive director Liz Guthrie, “It’s a magical organization ~ One I hope you will join as we continue to make these special Wishes come true…” I couldn’t agree more.
