I have been very fortunate in my career and the choices I have made for myself. When I took this job with Ron and his bakery, I thought I was only going to stay a year. Five and half years later I have been lucky enough to cultivate a career I never thought would be possible, in an industry I only had an outsiders view to. Everything I have learned from Ron, his business with his amazing crew, has given me the foundation for something fresh and new in my life.
Change is good in our lives, it’s fun (and scary) to mix things up and see where it takes you. My last day with my beloved baker will be on August 31. I can’t begin to tell you the wisdom and artistic merit this man has shared with me for the past 5+ years. I was lucky enough to catch a brief glimpse into something completely extraordinary, something that I had never knew existed. For those of you that have ever had a doubt in their mind – Willy Wonka truly does exist. His name is Ron Ben-Israel and his team of confectionary artists make magic happen. What a fun way to learn an industry, what an amazing way to learn a career.
Where am I going? Well first off, I am not working for another baker. I think that would be a very hard thing to do since I am very certain that RBI Cakes is the best in the industry. I will still be working with Ron as his colleague in another capacity though. My new job takes me on the décor side of the industry. I will be working with the very talented Ed Libby for Ed Libby & Company. (Please check it out! http://www.edlibby.com/) An innovative designer in the event world, who’s work I have had admired since I started in this industry five years ago. (Ron & Ed also happen to be friends, so I like to think I am still staying in the family…)
I will still be writing my blog. Once a cake girl, always a cake girl, but it will now be in a wider design capacity. I am hoping it will be a source for more inspiration for all of my favorite “sweet friends” out there and still give you insight to this amazing industry we all play in. Of course Ron will occasionally be a “guest blogger” sharing with you his fun creations or exciting news. But I will also be sharing the new aspects of my job and more of the crazy antics I am sure to encounter in my new surroundings.
It has been an incredible journey that I have taken these past 5+ years. The knowledge, fun, insights, trips, people and my friendship with Ron has been amazing and I can honestly say has made me the happiest I have ever been in my entire life. It’s with this foundation and support that I feel confident and excited for trying new things in my future and of course sharing them with all of you…
