As well all know in our industry, a picture says it all. The end result of all we do at the bakery is visual. You want to see a picture of a cake, the inside of our bakery, our process – we show our friends, colleagues, clients, it’s used for marketing, facebook, (my blog!), our website and anything else we can think of.
Ron and I are very excited to be participating in a media workshop with the folks at Panasonic. They are debuting the latest camera in the Lumix line, the DMC-GF3 series. They invited a group of media professionals to this workshop to tryout this brand new camera. We are teamed up with Brian Marcus of Fred Marcus photography and he will be lending his expertise in capturing special moments and details from a wedding. Ron will be there completing a wedding cake so the workshop participants have the opportunity to use this new camera and take pictures of Ron in action as well as the “beauty shot” of a wedding cake as it would be setup at a wedding. As well as talking about the importance of photography in his business.

Panasonic has been gracious enough to send a demo camera over to the bakery. I have been shooting with this for the past two days. It did not come with instruction book, so I had to figure some things out. If you have used a dslr camera in the past or are very familiar with your own point and shoot – you will have no problem. It took me maybe 15 minutes. This little camera is quite a gem. It’s very intuitive, the menus are easy to follow, interchangeable lenses, they even allow you to create your own menus if you have a favorite shooting preference. Best of all, it fits in the palm of your hand. I have been very impressed thus far with what I have been able to get out of this camera. This is a great tool to add to any small business. Not only can you great shots in your bakery but it’s small enough to take on location as well.
Thank you Panasonic for sending over this camera and allowing me to use it before our event! What a treat!
***All of the above pictures were shot on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3C camera.

Wow, I love the fact that it fits in the palm of your hand. You would not have guessed that looking at the sharp clear photos. They are so sharp that now I want to have a piece of cake! I’ll just have to make one for dessert tonight. Thank you for sharing.
I do not know whether this is the place to ask this question after reading the “really” segment :)…. It would be really helpful if you can reply me with an answer 🙂
Is that masonite cake boards that are used to stack the cakes… If so how to clean them before use, If alright with you… where is the best place to get them?
Thanks a lot,
Ambika 🙂
